FROM THE LAB: Check out our New, Heavily Discounted Courses!!
Tomorrow, Saturday February 20th from 6 to 11 PM, Downtown Los Angeles will play host to a new Modular event, LA Modular 2016 at the Teragram Ballroom. The event will feature a large synth meet from 6 to 8 PM, followed by performances and another concert only a few doors down, after the event concludes. While LA has many synth-related events, this one will be unique.
The event will feature performances from some of the most notable artists in the Modular Synth community around LA and the world. It looks to be an all-star lineup, including local LA modular heroes Baseck, Rodent and Anthony Baldino as well as DJM/REX (which includes Cyrus Rex and Baseck with Douglas McCarthy and Bon Harris of Nitzer Ebb), Daniel Miller of Mute Records and Richard Devine. I mean, come on.
The preceding Modular Synth Meet will include many synth manufacturers, Make Noise, Malekko, Sputnik, 4MS Company, Noise Engineering, Harvestman, Audio Damage, Subconscious and many more. Of course, Voltage Control Lab will be there to answer any questions about our courses and tutorials, look for us in the VCL tshirts and say Hi!!
Hosted by Muffwiggler, Mute Records and Lethal Amounts, LA Modular 2016 aims to re-imagine the concept of a synth meet, bringing synth makers and performers into an elegant concert environment. Often these kinds of events are found in shops or even private homes. The Teragram however, is an historic venue, believed to have opened in 1913 and served as a violin store among other things, since it’s shut down as a venue in the 50s. The recent revitalization of the space as a concert venue has brought a number of popular bands through the doors, but no other synth meets yet, as far as we can tell…
